BCC Rally continues to be dedicated to the purpose of raising funds and awareness in an effort to eradicate breast cancer. Recent news stories concerning grants from Susan G. Komen for the Cure® have caused some confusion. We have received assurances from Komen Charlotte that “the recent disputed Komen Headquarters policy does not impact the people we serve in our nine-county service area. None of our current grantees, or the grant distributions for 2012, will be affected.” In 2011, Komen Charlotte awarded $1.3 million in grants to 24 organizations that deliver breast health education, screening and related services to people most in need—those with limited or no access to the healthcare system.
