BCC Rally Becomes the First Rally Organization to Receive a Susan G. Komen Award for Donating $1 Million!
BCC Rally completed its 10-year anniversary of raising funds and awareness for breast cancer by receiving the prestigious Susan G. Komen Lifetime Pink Ribbon Circle Award for surpassing $1 million in contributions since its founding in 2004. BCC Rally is the first Rally for the Cure® to achieve this milestone.
In addition, BCC Rally presented a check for a record $220,000 to Komen Charlotte, reinforcing its distinction as the largest Rally organization in the U.S. since 2008 and Komen Charlotte’s largest single donor. The Pink Bow Campaign, BCC Rally’s highly visible community outreach program, contributed an impressive $75,000 to the overall funds raised.
Mike Smiley, board chairman of Komen Charlotte, presented the national Pink Ribbon Circle Award to BCC Rally board president Sue Dockstader. Smiley said Komen Charlotte is “thrilled and honored” that BCC Rally is part of the Charlotte community. He praised the organization and its many volunteers for setting and achieving such an ambitious goal and in a relatively short time period.
“This truly demonstrates your passion and dedication to your mission to bring people together to educate, build awareness and end breast cancer forever,” he said. “Over the past 10 years, all of you have come out to work collaboratively and enthusiastically to spread awareness of breast cancer and I assure you – you have made an incredible impact on our community.”
